Hello readers! Hope you had a wonderful summer! I ended my summer with a short but rejuvenating trip to Aruba. Here is a photo from my trip of one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever experienced.
I know it has been awhile since you have heard from me. I decided to take a summer break from writing online after completing my “one year of writing” to check in with myself to see where I wanted to go next with my writing practice. What I learned about myself is that I would like to continue to use my writing as a way to be of service to others by providing stories, knowledge, and tools to inspire living a more authentic and happier life.
I covered a lot of topics that were important to me over the past year. These were both my favorite and most viewed posts:
Making a Career Transition (776 views)
Navigating a Career Crisis (750 views)
Replacing Loneliness with Self Love (1050 views)
Self Reflection for Busy People (664 views)
When the End is a New Beginning (855 views)
I believe these were popular because I shared some personal stories of my own challenges and how I overcame them along with tools and tips. Through my own self reflection work around life purpose, I’ve come to the realization that I do want to help others live more fulfilled lives with a sense of purpose, passion, and happiness. In this moment of my life, my main vehicle of doing this work is through writing so that I can impact a larger and broader audience.
Life in general feels too short these days, and I do not think it is worth staying “too long” in unhappy places or mindsets. Being able to take small steps out of unhappiness has made me realize there is always a better path forward. I’ve had my fair share of unhappiness in the past years that have all eventually led to positive changes or new beginnings.
Some of my major challenges over the past few years have been:
My marriage of 13+ years ended which knocked me off my center of gravity and forced me to transform myself in more ways than one.
Experiencing burnout and a job layoff last year helped me gain more clarity on what was important to me in my career.
Battling a chronic health condition led me to evaluate my self-care practices and work/life boundaries.
My relationships with friends changed this year that resulted in losing a few people from my close circle.
I’ve also experienced many positive changes to balance out the challenges:
I learned how to be comfortable in my own skin, spending time alone, and living a life on my own terms.
I joined a new company in a new role this past year that is very aligned with who I am and allows me to set up healthy work/life boundaries.
I accepted that I have this chronic health condition and found a pathway to manage it through diet and lifestyle changes without pharmaceutical drugs.
I realized that I wanted to surround myself with people who inspire me and allow me to be a better version of myself.
As I reflect back on where I’ve been and where I am today, I do feel a sense of accomplishment and peacefulness. I know that there will be more challenges to come but I’ve started to build internal tools to handle those challenges and be more resilient. I’m excited to continue to share my learnings with all of you.
What to Expect From Satya Creates in the Months to Come:
There are a lot of interesting people in my network that have gone through challenges and made it to the other side. I plan to do more interviews and share their learnings alongside my own stories. Please feel free to send me a message here or on LinkedIn if you want to be featured in a future post.
I chose the name Satya Creates (aka “Truth” Creates) for this newsletter because I am a creative individual with many different interests and passions. I know there are a lot of you out there who are similar to me in that way. I want to use this newsletter as a way to explore many different topic areas that can inspire creativity, living authentically, and gaining clarity on life purpose.
I started off this newsletter as a monthly publication but I’ve realized that it is hard to predict when I’m feeling inspired. As a result, there may be a few months that you may hear from me more than once; while there will be times I take a break like I did this summer.
Thank you again for being a subscriber to Satya Creates. I want to celebrate the fact that I reached 300 subscribers last month! The reason why I haven’t given up on writing this publication is because the readership has slowly grown every month since last year. If you feel like this newsletter or any of the posts might help a friend or family member, please don’t hesitate to share it.
